This project started as just the mantle piece in the living area, coordinated with the stone renovation in the space. Pleased with the install, the clients requested to move on to major updates to the home office features.

With stained cherry and other various dark toned woods already at the core of the home aesthetic, honoring and embellishing this with quality materials was a main goal. The previous desk had a disruptive multi-height work surface, so this desk needed to feature an expansive coplanar worksurface fit for an executive head space. The simple volumes and square vertical structures give the desk a weighted foundation, while the subtle curves at the points of interaction elevate the user experience, such as the arches at the cabinet openings and the upwards favoring curves framing the edge of the desk top, enticing the hand to engage the forms. The aged pewter hardware embraces the rustic nature of the interior and exterior stone work of the house.

Careful attention was afforded to the woodwork, with continuous grain on the drawer frames and a beautifully symmetric book match exhibited at the large mitered seam of the L shaped desk top. Some inlaid walnut line work accentuates the framed edge. The same detail and care was replicated in the matching bookcase to outfit the room.
