For a hanging shelving unit, the tapered drop shape was perfect for conveying the notion of weight and confinement. A plywood and walnut veneer lamination create the load bearing structure, while solid maple wood shelves intersect that shape, giving a variety of display shelf sizes. The whole thing hung a dovetailed wedge then screws to the wall and integrates with the mandala at the top of the unit.
